The Walk for Lost Dreams took place on a cold, windy, rainy Saturday in April, 2018. Around 85 hearty souls arrived at Centro de Informacion at 4:15pm, after walking over 20 miles from downtown Aurora, Illinois to Elgin, Illinois, raising over $3,000 for Centro in the process. Upon their arrival, the students were addressed by Manuel Barbosa, former federal judge and the first ever chairman of the Illinois Human Rights Commission.
We are inspired by the dedication and tenacity of these students from the East Aurora High School, and Centro is honored to have been a part of their efforts to raise immigration awareness. If you’d like to contribute, visit their gofundme page. To see photos of the event, visit our Facebook page.
