Community Outreach Coordinator
Position Summary:\ To provide and supervise the provision of bilingual/bicultural information, advocacy and referral services to individuals and families by telephone, in person or through public events. To advance the mission of Centro by assessing community outreach needs and developing strategies to increase awareness of and access to Centro’s programs and services. Member of agency leadership team.
Duties / Functions: \ • Conduct and coordinate community outreach to ensure maximum participation in a wide range of issues including employment, health, immigration, education, safety, financial management, and immigrant integration • Develop seminar and educational workshops addressing the identified needs of the community\ • Oversee the maintenance of client and resource information to ensure effective referral, advocacy, and reporting\ • Responsible for the initiation, preparation, implementation, monitoring, successful completion, and evaluation of agency outreach and engagement efforts • Coordinate the training and supervision of community outreach staff and volunteers • Alleviate crises by responding with appropriate and relevant referrals and intervention • Recruit and involve community residents to participate in agency events that will advance the mission of the organization • Prepare all reports pertinent to the community outreach program and submit to Assistant Director for review before submission to funding sources and granting institutions • Assume other duties as assigned • Report to Executive Director
Necessary Qualifications:\ • Bachelor’s Degree required • Proficient in MS Office programs\ • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate records • Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural, including understanding of the immigrant experience and obstacles due to language barriers, legal status, and poverty • Strong communication skills including excellent written and verbal competencies and the ability to speak in public and to interact with community leaders, volunteers, and staff\ • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment • Supervisory experience preferred
